Gargoyles and Grotesques of New College, Oxford

You know those ugly stone statues you see on buildings, they’re gargoyles, right? Well, not necessarily. A gargoyle is used as a drainage spout – any other of these faces are grotesques. Lots of colleges around Oxford have grotesques adorning their walls but I think New College has some of the most interesting in the city. Here are a few I spotted this morning. When in Oxford, please remember to look up!
